Good News, the Ministry of Transportation is Preparing a 18 percent Discount on Flights for the 2026 Lebaran Homecoming
MATARAM - The Ministry of Transportation is preparing a 18 percent discount on plane tickets for the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Fitr homecoming period or Lebaran 2026.
"So the government's plane tickets have provided a stimulus for plane tickets with discounts of up to 18 percent," said Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, accompanied by NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal after a coordination meeting to prepare for the 2026 Lebaran transportation in Mataram, Saturday.
He said that the issue of high air ticket prices was still high. Because he said, ticket prices could be influenced by availability and demand, so when the Lebaran homecoming flow, demand often jumps compared to the readiness of the aircraft fleet.
"Then it often makes the ticket price rise drastically. So there is supply and demand where there are several opportunities where tickets may feel a bit expensive," he said.
Dudy ensured that the discount would be closely monitored so that the public would really feel a reduction in ticket prices during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming period.
"But we assure that the implementation of this stimulus will be closely monitored so that the public can feel that there is indeed a reduction in ticket prices," he said.
In addition, his party will also monitor complaints from residents regarding ticket prices. This is done to determine whether the high price is due to the tariff factor that has indeed increased or due to the route of the flight chosen.
Dudy gave an example, in some cases, the ticket price looks expensive because passengers choose a transit route through another city, not choosing a direct flight.
"So it's not a direct flight, so that's what makes it seem like the ticket is expensive, even though the selection of the flight route is through transit in another city," said Dudy.
In addition to discounts on airfare, the government is also preparing a free homecoming program for land and sea transportation, including destinations to West Nusa Tenggara.
"There is a free homecoming that we have prepared for land transportation, trains, and also the sea. Including those with destinations to NTB," he said.
