Sergio Aguero Tries Virtual F1 Race
JAKARTA - Sergio Aguero is accustomed to accelerating away from opposing defenders, but this weekend the Manchester City striker will be testing his pace in a virtual Formula 1 race.
City's all-time top scorer is the newest person behind the wheel for the F1 e-Sports series. Previously, this virtual racing featured racers, other sports stars and celebrities.
Aguero will line the grid at Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix at Red Bull. He will partner Alex Albon, who won the Dutch Virtual Grand Prix last weekend.
"Motorsport is my great passion, so being given the opportunity to take part in the Virtual Spanish Grand Prix is very exciting for me," said Aguero to launch Soccerway, Friday, May 9.
"I've been traveling to watch F1 races and testing myself on the track, which is an exhilarating experience.
"But this took me to the next level and gave me the opportunity to race and compete with real F1 drivers. I can't wait."
Aguero will not be the only Champions League star on the grid. Barcelona player Arthur also raced for the Haas team.

The two footballers follow in the footsteps of British cricketer Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad, singer Liam Payne, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and golfer Ian Poulter who also took part in the virtual racing series.
So far, there have been four races in a series that are prepared to fill the absence of F1 races due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
