BMKG: Light Rain to Fall in Most of Indonesia Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that light rain will dominate the Indonesian weather on Saturday, February 28.

BMKG Praktirawan Diah Ayuretnani said in a statement quoted by Antara, the potential for light rain is in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, most of Java Island, then the city of Tanjung Selor and the city of Palangka Raya.

In addition, this weather has the potential to occur in Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, parts of Sulawesi, the city of Ternate, Ambon and parts of Papua.

"Then the potential for thick clouds in the cities of Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Bengkulu, Pontianak, Samarinda, and Banjarmasin," he said.

In addition, there is the potential for smoke or fog in the city of Padang, and there is the potential for cloudy weather in the city of Jayapura.

Diah also reminded people to be aware of the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in the Banten, West Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi and Maluku regions.

"For the western part of Indonesia, it is anticipated that there will be potential rain accompanied by lightning in the cities of Jambi and Bandar Lampung," he said.
