AHY: Government ensures readiness of infrastructure and transportation for homecoming

BOGOR - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that the government continues to prepare infrastructure and transportation to support the smooth flow of homecoming and return to Idul Fitri 2026.

He emphasized that cross-ministry and agency coordination continued to be carried out to ensure that roads, bridges, and modes of transportation are in a state of readiness to serve the community.

"We continue to monitor through a number of coordination meetings, direct inspections in the field. This is a cross-ministry and agency work, central and regional governments," said AHY as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 27.

He said the Ministry of Public Works ensured the acceleration of the repair of damaged and potholed roads, including preparing heavy equipment and materials for road preservation.

"Damaged roads are repaired immediately, the holes, heavy equipment are prepared, the material needs can be quickly distributed and used for repairs. The bridge must also be sturdy," he said.

The government through cross-ministerial coordination and local governments previously targeted the repair of damaged roads, especially on main routes such as the north coast (pantura), which can be completed no later than 10 days before Lebaran 2026.

On the transportation side, AHY said the government was also trying to keep the cost of travel affordable, especially for economy class passengers.

"We are also trying to reduce the price of plane tickets, for example, the price of ship tickets, train tickets, especially for the economy class. Then also a reduction in toll road tariffs," he said.

According to him, this step is expected to help the community as well as support the smooth mobility during the homecoming period.

In addition, the government is preparing a traffic management scheme and encouraging the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy to reduce the potential for congestion at the peak of the homecoming flow.

"We are trying to make all the facilities ready, the rest areas are ready, reducing the deadlock or congestion that is too bad," said AHY.

He then appealed to the public to continue to prioritize safety and not force themselves while driving to reduce the risk of accidents.

The government, continued AHY, will continue to monitor the readiness of infrastructure and transportation facilities to ensure that the homecoming and return flow of Eid al-Fitr takes place safely and smoothly.
