Marco Bezzecchi Showed Off on the First Day of the 2026 Thailand MotoGP

JAKARTA - Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi performed so fiercely in the first day of the 2026 Thailand MotoGP race. He managed to break the lap record in the Practice session and was the fastest in the Free Practice.

The Italian rider came out as the fastest in Practice which was the closing session of the first day at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, on Friday, February 27, 2026. He recorded a time of one minute 28.526 seconds to carve his name in the history books.

That is a record lap time at the circuit. Bezzecchi beat the defending champion, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), by 0.421 seconds and the third position was claimed by Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team).

Bezzecchi immediately performed optimally in the early minutes of Practice so that he quickly became the first rider to break through one minute 29 seconds. His position was briefly shifted by Di Giannantonio, but he managed to sharpen his time at the end of the session.

Marc Marquez had a fight, but had to settle for second place. The performance of the Spanish rider failed to be followed by his teammate Francesco Bagnaia who failed to go directly to the Second Qualifying (Q2).

Young racer Pedro Acosta also performed solidly to bring Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to fourth place. He was ahead of Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) who was in fifth place and Alex Marquez in sixth place.

Then in seventh place is the Honda HRC Castrol rider, Joan Mir, who is ahead of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).

Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) who fell at Turn 7, was still able to secure Q2 thanks to his ninth position. He was followed by Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) in 10th place.

Before performing brilliantly in Practice, Bezzecchi first appeared dominant in the First Free Practice or Free Practice 1 (FP1) session this morning. He completed the session with a time of one minute 29.346 seconds.
