Seskab Claims Teachers Are Not Ignored, Honorer Incentive of Rp400 Thousand, Non-ASN Allowance of Rp2 Million

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya denied allegations that teachers were not taken care of in the era of President Prabowo Subianto.

Teddy explained the three changes that were said to be the most noticeable: an increase in incentives, an increase in allowances, and improvements to the payment mechanism.

"There are others who say that teachers are not taken care of. In fact, there are three," said Presidential Chief of Staff Teddy at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday, February 27.

First, regarding honorarium teachers whose authority is in the local government. The central government, he said, gave additional incentives - not salaries - which only increased during President Prabowo's term to Rp400 thousand.

"For 20 years the incentive has never been raised. It only went up last year," he said.

Second, the allowance for non-ASN teachers increased from Rp1.5 million to Rp2 million.

Third, Teddy highlighted the change in the flow of disbursement. Previously, allowances/honor were disbursed through transfers to the region and only received by teachers every three months. Last year, the President instructed that payments be made every month and directly to teachers. "And it's running," said Teddy.

Teddy again emphasized that education programs would not be reduced.

"Everything is going, continuing, even adding," he said, adding that the focus of the policy was directed more specifically to students, schools, and teachers.
