Banyumas Police Seized 9 Kilograms of Illegal Explosive Materials
Banyumas - The Banyumas City Police (Polresta) confiscated 9 kilograms of illegal explosive material of the petasan type from two suspects in the Pekat Candi 2026 Operation held in Kedungpring Village, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.
"This disclosure is our firm step in suppressing the circulation of illegal explosives that have the potential to cause casualties and environmental damage," said Banyumas Police Chief Kombes Petrus Silalahi, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 27.
According to him, the disclosure is part of the police's preventive steps to anticipate potential disturbances to public security and order (kamtibmas), especially during the month of Ramadan which is often marked by an increase in the use of firecrackers.
In the operation carried out on Wednesday (25/2), at around 02.00 WIB, officers secured two suspects with initials SP (18) and RH (23) who were suspected of being involved in the illegal mixing and distribution of firecracker materials.
"Both were arrested at different locations in the Kedungpring Village area, Kemranjen District, after officers conducted an investigation and deepened information from the community," he explained.
In addition to explosives weighing approximately 9 kilograms, his party also seized one motorcycle used for distribution operations and two mobile phones suspected of being related to the activity of selling fireworks.
Currently, the two suspects are being secured at the Banyumas Police Headquarters to undergo further legal proceedings and charged under Article 306 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code regarding possession and circulation of explosives without rights.
Regarding this, he appealed to the public not to mix, store, or sell fireworks materials independently.
In addition to violating the law, this action is very dangerous and has the potential to injure yourself and others as well as damage the surrounding environment.
"We will continue to tighten supervision of the circulation of dangerous materials, illegal liquor, and various other activities that have the potential to disrupt kamtibmas to ensure that the situation remains conducive," said the Police Chief.
