Police Match DNA of Missing Ukrainian Blonde with Body Parts in Gianyar, Bali

DENPASAR - The Bali Regional Police have matched the DNA of the family of the foreign national victim who was reported missing with the human body parts found in the Ketewel Beach area, Gianyar Regency.

Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Ariasandy, said his party had taken DNA samples from the body parts and the family for the identification process.

"We have taken DNA samples and they will be examined by the DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) team of Biddokes Polda Bali together with Bidlabfor Polda Bali. These samples will later be matched with DNA samples of families who reported the loss," said Ariasandy as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 27.

He explained that the missing person report was received on February 15, 2026 at around 23.30 Wita at the South Kuta Police. The report stated that a foreign citizen (WNA) was allegedly a victim of kidnapping.

Based on the report received, the victim who was reported missing was a male citizen of Ukraine.

The police have coordinated with the victim's family to request DNA samples for matching purposes.

Meanwhile, so far the police have found a number of body parts scattered in eight points around the river estuary and the coast of Ketewel Beach.

The body parts found include the head, right and left chest, arms, thighs, right foot, and internal organs.

According to Ariasandy, the condition of the body parts has begun to decompose and is estimated to have been more than two to three days since death.

"If you look at the condition found, it is likely that the victim was mutilated. The cuts look a bit rough. However, to be sure, we are still waiting for the results of the autopsy from the forensic team," he said.

The police are also still investigating whether the body parts were thrown away at another location and then carried away by the river to the estuary, or thrown directly around the discovery location.

Since receiving the report of the alleged kidnapping, the team from the Bali Police together with the Gianyar Police immediately went to the crime scene to secure evidence and ask for information from witnesses. CCTV footage along the route to the location is also being examined.

Ariasandy emphasized that the safety of the victim was the top priority since the report was received.

Until now, the investigation is still ongoing and the police admit that they have collected a number of evidence that leads to the bright point of the perpetrator and the motive of the case.

"We are still working in the field. We will provide further developments after the results of the identification and investigation are more complete," he said.
