Britain is ready to ban Russian oil delivery services without US support

JAKARTA - Britain is ready to join the European Union to impose a ban on Russian oil delivery services by sea without the support of the United States (US).

"That's right. That's right," said British Trade Minister Chris Bryant in a meeting in response to a question about whether Britain and the EU were ready to implement the ban without US support, as reported by RIA Novosti, Friday, February 27.

In addition, Esther Blythe, Deputy Director of Sanctions for Russia and Belarus at the British Foreign Office, stated that Britain would support a full ban on maritime shipping services for Russian oil, reported the Politico newspaper on Thursday (26/2).

"We continue to discuss this with the Europeans," Blythe said, quoted by the newspaper as reported by ANTARA.

However, Reuters reported, citing the European Union Sanctions Envoy, David O'Sullivan, the European Union is not ready to impose a ban on maritime services for the transportation of Russian crude oil independently and is still seeking support from all G7 member countries on the issue.
