Prabowo-MBZ Meets at Qasr Al Bahr, Strengthen Strategic Partnership Indonesia-UAE

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at the Qasr Al Bahr Palace, Abu Dhabi, Thursday, February 26 local time.

The meeting was part of President Prabowo's working visit to strengthen Indonesia's strategic partnership with PEA which has continued to grow rapidly in recent years.

As stated by Antara, Friday, February 27, upon arrival at Qasr Al Bahr, President Prabowo was greeted directly by President MBZ.

The atmosphere of warmth was immediately felt from the beginning of the meeting which took place in the open garden of the palace, with the backdrop of palm trees and the sunset light of Abu Dhabi which added a familiar and family-like impression.

The delegations of the two countries sat facing each other in a circular formation, creating an atmosphere of equal, open and respectful dialogue.

President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, RI Ambassador to PEA Judha Nugraha, and President Director of PT Pindad (Persero) Sigit P Santosa.

Meanwhile, President MBZ was accompanied by the Vice Chairman of the Presidential Court Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Advisor to the Presidential Court Mohamed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Advisor for Strategic Affairs Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei, and Ambassador of PEA to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri.

The series of meetings continued with a joint iftar which took place in a solemn and full of togetherness atmosphere.

The momentum of Ramadan further strengthened the sense of brotherhood between the two leaders. President Prabowo also performed the Maghrib prayer in congregation with the entourage.

The dialogue then continued in an expanded meeting to discuss a number of strategic agendas, ranging from strengthening cooperation in energy, investment, to future economic partnerships.

This meeting confirmed the commitment of both countries in deepening mutually beneficial and long-term oriented collaboration.

As a conclusion, President Prabowo and President MBZ held a one-on-one meeting (tête-à-tête) in an open and constructive atmosphere.

The direct conversation between the two leaders reflects the closeness of the persona as well as the strong determination to continue to strengthen the bilateral relationship that has been closely intertwined.

This meeting has a special meaning because 2026 is the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's diplomatic relations with PEA.

Half a century of partnership has laid a solid foundation for the two countries to open a new chapter of broader, deeper, and more impactful strategic cooperation for the welfare of the two peoples.
