After a disagreement with PIF, Cristiano Ronaldo reaffirmed his commitment to the Saudi Pro League
Cristiano Ronaldo says he is happy with his time in the Saudi Pro League with Al Nassr, after a recent dispute with his club and PIF (Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund) left him out of two league games.
The 41-year-old had previously missed out on the 1-0 win over Al Riyadh on February 2, 2026 and the 2-0 win against Al Ittihad on February 6, 2026 local time.
ESPN previously reported that Ronaldo was unhappy with the lack of financial support for Al Nassr in the transfer market.
The Portuguese striker is said to be unhappy because PIF did not invest in his team, while their rivals, Al Hilal, which is also owned by PIF, signed his former Real Madrid teammate, Karim Benzema.
However, the dispute is over. Ronaldo returned to play in the last three league games for Al Nassr. In fact, in every game, he always scored a goal.
Ronaldo again scored against Al Fateh on February 14, 2026, before scoring two goals in a 4-0 thrashing of Al Nazem on Saturday, February 21, 2026, local time, which took them to the top of the table.
Al Nassr again maintained the top of the Saudi Pro League standings after beating Al Najma five goals without reply on Thursday, February 26, 2026 WIB, where Ronaldo scored one goal.
"I am very happy. As I have often said, I am part of Saudi Arabia. This is a country that welcomed me, my family, and my friends very well."
"I'm happy here, I want to continue here. The most important thing is that we continue to fight, we are at the top, we don't know the results of the other opponents."
"Let's see, we do our job, win, put pressure on, and let's see at the end of the season. We are on the right track, we are back, good, and have confidence. I'm very proud," Ronaldo said in an interview with the Thmanyah television station, reported by ESPN.
Ronaldo ended his boycott after his main demands to PIF were met - which included returning management authority to club executives Simao Coutinho and Jose Semedo, as well as paying back wages.
After signing a two-year contract extension in June 2025, he will play for Al Nassr until the summer of 2027.
