Heartbroken by being teased for being fat, a man in Tanjungpinang kills his wife with a wooden beam
BATAM - The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Riau Islands Regional Police (Ditreskrimum Polda Kepri) Kombes Pol. Ronni Bonic revealed the motive for the husband to kill his wife in Tanjungpinang was allegedly because of heartache.
"So this perpetrator was hurt because he was often insulted by his wife, called fat, ugly, so he was angry and took a wooden beam to hit his wife's head," said Ronni at the Kepri Police Headquarters, Batam, Thursday, February 26, reported by ANTARA.
Ronni said the murder with planning was carried out by a man with the initials N (67) while the victim was his wife named Harsalena (56) on Wednesday (25/2) night at the Bintan Permata Indah Housing, Jalan Ganet, Tanjungpinang City.
The case is currently being handled by the Tanjungpinang Police, but a team from the Polda's Criminal Investigation Unit also went to the location to monitor the case.
The perpetrator N is a repeat offender with a similar case who was just released from Tanjungpinang Prison in August 2025.
"This murder was accompanied by planning, the perpetrator was his own husband who had just come out of prison because of the same murder case," he said.
According to Ronni, the perpetrator not only hit his wife's head with a wooden beam until she died, but also cut the victim's body with a machete.
"So the perpetrator was not satisfied there. He took a machete and cut his leg. Both legs were separated," he said.
After killing his wife, the perpetrator met his son who arrived at home because he heard his parents fighting.
Then, he said, the child asked his father where his mother was because he heard the two arguing at home.
"Then the father told his son that "I have killed the mamak," said Ronni, imitating the perpetrator's words.
After that, the perpetrator left with his wife's body using a sack and left her legs at home. When his son saw the legs he screamed and reported it to the police.
The perpetrator took his wife's body to Bintan. Then the Tanjungpinang Police investigators managed to arrest the perpetrator in Bintan within three hours after the incident.
"So this perpetrator is a prisoner who has just been released from prison with a murder case, if I'm not mistaken the victim was his mistress," said Ronni.
For the first murder, suspect N was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Then he was granted parole in August 2025.
The perpetrator's release from prison so quickly and repeating his actions raises questions in the community.
