Tugu Insurance Recycled 1.7 Tons of Textile Waste, Press Emissions 4.289 Kg CO2

JAKARTA - The problem of textile waste is still a major challenge in Indonesia. Of the approximately 2.3 million tons of textile waste produced each year, only about 13 percent can be recycled.

In response to this challenge, PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama Indonesia Tbk (Tugu Insurance) is implementing a Waste Management Program as part of the Tugu Green Journey sustainability program.

This program involves more than 200 volunteer employees who collect and recycle used uniforms and clothes. A total of 1.7 tons of textile waste was processed back into useful products, such as insulation felt, yarn, and environmentally friendly merchandise.

Management estimates that this initiative can reduce carbon emissions by 4,289 Kg CO2, while supporting the company's carbon footprint reduction target.

In addition, Tugu Insurance is also active in environmental conservation activities, one of which is through the planting of more than 10,000 mangroves in various areas, including the Thousand Islands.

In the last five years, the company has planted nearly 50,000 tree seedlings spread across a number of areas.

Tugu Insurance Corporate Secretary Dudi Subekti emphasized that this program is part of the company's long-term commitment to TJSL as well as efforts to encourage environmental awareness among the community, employees, and students through the Tugu Bakti Kawan volunteer platform.

"Through various programs that we run, we are committed to making a real contribution to increasing public awareness and education, as well as strengthening collaboration in maintaining sustainable environmental sustainability," he said.
