Kaltara Subsidized House Quota Increases to 2,000 Units
JAKARTA - The North Kalimantan Provincial Government (Pemprov) has received an additional quota of 2,000 subsidized houses this year. This number has increased significantly compared to the previous year which amounted to 596 units.
This additional quota was decided in a meeting between Governor Zainal Arifin Paliwang and Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 24.
Governor Zainal said that the need for decent housing in Kaltara is still high, especially for low-income people. In addition to the construction of new houses, the local government also faces the problem of slums that require arrangement.
"The need for decent houses in Kaltara is still large, especially for low-income people. We hope that the support of the central government can accelerate its fulfillment," said Zainal, Thursday, February 26.
"The additional quota of 2,000 subsidized houses this year is expected to expand the access of the Kaltara community to decent housing and support the improvement of settlement quality in Kaltara," he continued.
Zainal revealed that the provincial government had allocated funds through the APBD for the housing sector, but the regional fiscal capacity had not been able to cover all needs.
"We have budgeted for the provision of housing through the Kaltara APBD. However, with the support of the ministry, the basic needs of the community can be met more optimally," he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait explained that the government's housing program includes the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS), subsidized housing financing, to the construction of simple rental apartment (rusunawa).
"This program is part of the national target of building three million houses per year for low-income people, farmers, fishermen, workers, and teachers," said Maruar.
He emphasized the importance of accurate recipient data from the local government so that assistance is targeted.
"I hope that the data provided is correct and complete so that the people of Kaltara can feel the benefits of this program directly," he concluded.
