Cristiano Ronaldo's goal helps Al Nassr retain top spot in Saudi Pro League
Cristiano Ronaldo scored in his third consecutive match since returning from a boycott to bring Al Nassr back to the top of the Saudi Pro League (Saudi Pro League) with a 5-0 victory over bottom team Al Najma on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the seventh minute. Kingsley Coman and Inigo Martinez then added goals in the first half to give the hosts a 3-0 lead at the break.
Sadio Mane scored early in the second half as Al Nassr manager Jorge Jesus began to bring on his star players, including Ronaldo, who has now scored 21 league goals this season - two behind Ivan Toney of Al Ahli in the race for the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot.
The victory for Al Nassr was the 19th win this season to lead the Saudi Pro League with 58 points from 23 matches. They have only lost one game in the league so far this season and are two points ahead of Al Ahli in second place.
Ronaldo missed matches against Al Ittihad and Al Riyadh earlier this month due to a lack of financial support for the club in the recent transfer window.
The Portuguese star is reportedly unhappy with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) for failing to invest in Al Nassr while its rival, Al Hilal - which is also 75 percent owned by PIF - brought in his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema from Al Ittihad.
