Police Reveal the Motive for the Brother to Hit His Brother's Head with a Hammer Because of a Bathroom in the Room

MAH (16) a suspect in the beating of his older brother to death in his house in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta is known as a quiet child. The police suspect that the suspect's emotions exploded when there was a commotion with his older brother.

The Head of the PPA said that the trigger for the act of persecution that killed MAR (22) was because the victim put personal belongings in the room of the perpetrator or his younger brother.

"The trigger is because his brother is a naruh of personal items in his brother's room. Bathroom supplies, towels, that's it. It was not immediately moved by his brother," he said.

Then the victim's mother and the perpetrator reprimanded the victim regarding the transfer of the goods but the victim was indifferent.

"When he was scolded by his mother, his brother was indifferent to the response, it was not pleasant for the younger brother. That was the trigger for him to get so angry. Then he immediately took a hammer from the kitchen, hit his brother's head when his brother was feeding the animals," he said.

Meanwhile, the North Jakarta Police's Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) will conduct a psychiatric examination of the perpetrator at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.

"The plan is to have a psychiatric examination at the hospital today," he said.

Previously, it was reported that a student with the initials MAR (22) was found dead with severe head injuries after being killed with a hammer or martil by his younger brother with the initials MAH (16) at a house on Jalan Puskesmas, East Kelapa Gading Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

The head of the RT of Kelapa Gading Timur Village, Agus, said the incident occurred on Tuesday night, February 24, 2026. The victim and the perpetrator are siblings.

Inside the house, the victim and the perpetrator lived with his mother. Meanwhile, his father had separated from his mother.

"They live in three. His mother, his brother and his sister. The victim (died) his brother, the perpetrator is his younger brother who is still under age," he said.

After the incident, members of the PPA Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police immediately arrested the perpetrator MAH. For further processing, the perpetrator was taken to the North Jakarta Police Chief.
