We Welcome The Return Of The Bundesliga
JAKARTA - The Bundesliga is back and a new schedule has been confirmed by the German Football League (DFL). DFL chief executive Christian Seifert confirmed the match would resume on May 16 even though it had to be held in a stadium without spectators.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin welcomes the return of the Bundesliga after being suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said Germany's top competition could provide an example of how football can return.
With much of European football still suspended or - in the case of the Eredivisie and Ligue 1 - canceled, Ceferin is delighted by the news.
A statement issued by UEFA reads: "It is great news that the German authorities have agreed that the Bundesliga may return.
"This is a big and positive step to bring optimism back into people's lives.
"This is the result of constructive dialogue and careful planning between football authorities and politicians and I believe Germany will set a shining example for all of us in how to bring football - with all its joys, emotions and uncertainties - back to life. we.
"I hope everyone is connected to each of these successes."
The revierderby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke will make headlines in the first group game, while league leaders Bayern Munich are in action next week and Bayer Leverkusen travel to Werder Bremen the following day.
The rest of the Bundesliga season has also been charted, with eight rounds. The match between Werder and Eintracht Frankfurt will take place before the final day on 27 June.
