North Aceh's dozens of Huntara are completed, have started to be inhabited by 80 KK

JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk together with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) completed the construction of dozens of temporary housing (huntara) in Langkahan District, North Aceh, Aceh Province.

A total of five residential blocks built on an area of 3,643 square meters can accommodate up to 300 people.

When reviewing the location with Waskita Karya Operations Director II Paulus Budi Kartiko, Minister PU Dody Hanggodo ensured the readiness of the facility so that it can be used before Lebaran.

Dody said, five blocks with a capacity of 60 heads of households (KK) have begun to be inhabited.

Meanwhile, the other blocks are targeted to be completed before Eid al-Fitr, so that the affected residents can immediately occupy the residence.

"So, once we are done building, people can immediately enter," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Thursday, February 26.

On that occasion, Dody appreciated Waskita Karya's performance.

According to him, the building that was built was able to provide a cool and comfortable atmosphere for residents.

"The facilities (according to) the standard, it's more comfortable inside than here (outside the huntara). It's hot here, inside, I'm cold, really not uncomfortable inside," he said.

Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita explained that the huntara was built using a modular system with a light steel structure, so that the construction process was fast and efficient, without neglecting quality.

According to Ermy, each unit is designed using insulated panels to withstand hot weather as well as ventilation, exhaust fans and fans to maintain good air circulation.

"The construction of huntara is a manifestation of the company's commitment to presenting temporary housing that has maintained standards of eligibility and quality. The presence of huntara also supports the recovery of basic services for disaster-affected residents," he said.

Each huntara block, he continued, is also equipped with sanitation facilities, such as toilets, bathrooms and disabled toilets. There is also a waste disposal system to maintain environmental cleanliness.

"For us, the comfort of residents in the huntara is the main priority. We hope that the housing built together with the Ministry of PU can become a place to gather with family and carry out normal activities," he explained.

To meet the activities of the residents, the company also provides a communal kitchen in the North Aceh huntara, with a six-meter access road.

"Building a huntara for us is not only providing a place to live, but how to create new hope for the community. We will continue to be part of the recovery efforts for the affected communities," he explained.

Meanwhile, one of the residents of North Aceh, Wani Safrianti, admitted that she could cook and take care of her child comfortably since moving to huntara.

"Now it's comfortable to live in huntara, it's not hot anymore. Living here is more comfortable than in the camp (tent)," he said.

To note, Waskita together with the Ministry of PU will soon return to hand over the huntara in the North Aceh 2, Bener Meriah and Subulussalam areas.

Previously, the company together with Danantara had handed over 96 units in North Aceh.

In addition, as many as 600 huntara have been handed over to the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government (Pemkab) in January 2026.
