Commission III of the DPR asks for the ABK Fandi case to be handled fairly, will call BNN-Kejari Batam
JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR has asked that the case of ABK Fandi Ramadhan, who was sentenced to death in connection with the smuggling of 2 tons of methamphetamine, be handled fairly in accordance with the new Criminal Code.
This legal commission will also call the investigators of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Head of the Batam District Attorney's Office to explain the case transparently.
This is the conclusion of the DPR Commission III meeting in the RDPU with Fandi Ramadhan's family and lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, February 26.
"Commission III of the DPR RI reiterates the recommendations of the results of the III Commission meeting on February 23, 2026 regarding the handling of the case on behalf of Mr. Fandi Ramadhan to apply the principles and principles of justice in Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP)," said Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman.
Commission III of the DPR will call the BNN investigator and the Head of the Batam District Attorney's Office for Case No. 863/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Batam to provide the clearest explanation regarding the case being handled.
"Commission III of the DPR RI requests the Judicial Commission to supervise the handling of cases No. 12/Pid.B/2026/PN Mtr and No. 863/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Batam in accordance with laws and regulations," he said.
In addition, Commission III of the DPR asked the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Batam District Attorney's Office, Muhammad Arfian, to keep his mouth shut after accusing the DPR of intervening in the case.
Habiburokhman emphasized that his party did not intervene technically in matters that were being resolved by law enforcement officers (APH), but carried out oversight functions so that the law that was being implemented could be fair.
"Commission III of the DPR RI asks the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision to reprimand and examine the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Batam District Attorney's Office in Case No. 863/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Btm on behalf of Mr. Muhammad Arfian to be careful in presenting opinions to the public," he concluded.
