Digital Transformation of Health: AstraZeneca and Siloam Hospitals Launch the First AI Technology in Indonesia for Cancer Detection
JAKARTA - In commemorating World Cancer Day, AstraZeneca Indonesia and Siloam International Hospitals officially established a strategic partnership to revolutionize oncology services in the country. This collaboration introduces the implementation of the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia which focuses on accelerating breast cancer diagnosis and lung cancer screening.
This step was taken in response to the projection of a surge in cancer cases in Indonesia which is estimated to increase by 70% by 2050. Through the integration of technology from Mindpeak Germany and Qure.ai software, medical personnel across the Siloam Hospital network can now perform real-time and digital analysis of pathological tissue.
"This technology is not intended to replace the role of doctors, but rather to be a companion that enriches clinical decision-making. We are committed to building a service model that can be replicated nationally," said David Utama, President Director of Siloam International Hospitals.
In line with the national health transformation agenda, AstraZeneca also confirmed its commitment to bringing science innovations that have a real impact on patients. "We hope that this collaboration can strengthen early screening and improve the quality of more effective and sustainable cancer treatment," added Esra Erkomay, President Director of AstraZeneca Indonesia.
