Many Failed, Sony Pictures Plans to Reboot the Spider-Man World Again
JAKARTA - The world of Spider-Man will return with a new cast. This plan was carried out after several films made by Sony Pictures did not get a response and were even called a failure when they were shown in theaters.
Launching THR, Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman confirmed the production house's plan to reboot the Spider-Man world. Three films from the Spider-Man franchise: Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter failed to score box office hits at the cinema.
In the The Town podcast, Matt Belloni asked, "Is the Spider-Verse world dead? Will you come back? Is there another reboot"
"No. Yes. Yes," Tom Rothman replied to the question.
Tom Rothman also confirmed that the roles would be filled by new names compared to the previous actors.
The world of Spider-Man began with the film Venom which marked the franchise with a box office of 856 million US dollars. As a result, they began to develop with Morbius in 2022, followed by Madame Web in 2024.
Despite grossing more than $100 million, both films were considered failures with sharp criticism given to both.
The same is true for the film Kraven the Hunter which will be released in 2024. This film only earned 60 million US dollars with a production budget of up to more than 100 million US dollars.
Unlike the live-action version, the animated Spider-Man world is more successful and has received a good response. On the other hand, it is not yet known who the actors will play some of these characters.
