Komdigi encourages the transformation of minerals to become the foundation of future technology industries
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that the government has a vision to make national mineral wealth the foundation for the development of future technology industries.
Because according to him, Indonesia is now in a strategic position from being a raw material exporter to becoming a major partner in the global technology supply chain, especially in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries.
Nezar highlighted the rapid technological transformation in India, which he considered to have taken place in a directed and strategic manner during the AI Impact Summit in India a few days ago.
He assessed that the Make in India initiative encouraged industrial leaps, including Tata Group's move to build an AI-based data center and the development of network innovations that bring supercomputer-level computing capabilities to the desktop level.
"India is not only participating in the future but is also building it," Nezar was quoted as saying in an official release on Thursday, February 26.
As a follow-up, the Indonesian government offers three main agendas for Indonesian-Indian collaboration. First, build together in Indonesia through investment in mineral processing facilities into quality electronic materials.
Second, Investment in human resources, with knowledge transfer and development of semiconductor engineer talent.
"And third, build a supply chain resilience corridor, by connecting Indonesian resources and Indian manufacturing to create a resilient and efficient supply chain," he said.
