McGregor Backs Mayweather to Win Over Pacquiao
JAKARTA - UFC mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor is backing Floyd Mayweather to win a professional rematch against Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather and Pacquiao, who are members of the Hall of Fame, will face each other again on September 19, 2026 in Las Vegas, United States. This clash comes 11 years after their record-breaking first meeting.
McGregor predicts that Mayweather still has the best ability to repeat his heroic achievements even though he has never fought professionally since deciding to retire in 2017.
"Floyd (Mayweather will) beat him easily. See you again, bro," McGregor wrote on his Instagram social media as quoted by TalkSport.
Mayweather defeated Pacquiao via unanimous decision in May 2015. It was one of the last three professional fights for the fighter nicknamed Money.
The other two wins Mayweather can get after that are against Andre Berto and McGregor in September 2015 and August 2017 respectively. He then retired with a record of 50-0 wins-losses.
Mayweather has spent the last six years competing in exhibition matches against YouTubers, reality show stars, and various others.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao recently returned to the professional boxing arena to hold a draw with Mario Barrios in a WBC welterweight title fight.
Pacquiao said he was ambitious to win in a rematch with Mayweather. He is confident he can ruin the record of the American fighter.
"I want Floyd to live with one defeat in his professional record and always remember who gave him that defeat," he said.
