Central Java Police Arrests 6 Debt Collectors for Car Theft at Kaligawe Toll Gate Semarang

SEMARANG - Central Java Police arrested six debt collectors who allegedly intercepted and threatened to confiscate a car containing five female passengers at the entrance to the Kaligawe Semarang Toll Road, which occurred on February 7.

Central Java Police Criminal Investigation Director Kombes Anwar Nasir said the six perpetrators were suspected of intimidating and threatening passengers of a Tpyota Avanza vehicle, which is a rental vehicle.

He explained that the incident began when the car was being driven by five women departing from Jepara to Semarang Regency.

"When he was about to enter the Kaligawe Semarang Toll Road, the car was intercepted by two vehicles belonging to the perpetrators," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 25.

The perpetrators, he said, then tried to seize the car keys accompanied by violence.

The perpetrator, he continued, then opened the engine hood to check the frame and engine numbers.

"After checking, it turned out that the identity of the vehicle was different from what was meant," he said.

As a result of the incident, he continued, the victim suffered injuries and trauma due to the attempted confiscation accompanied by violence.

Police arrested the perpetrators after receiving a report and conducting a series of investigations.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with the new Article 448 of the Criminal Code regarding coercion by force, Article 262 regarding robbery, and Article 466 regarding the deprivation of someone's freedom.
