PDIP asks the government to be open about MBG funded by the education budget
Member of Commission X of the DPR PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Faction Bonnie Triyana asked the government to be open about funding the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program using education funds.
This step is considered important so that there is no confusing information and in accordance with official state documents, such as the State Budget Law and the Presidential Regulation on the State Budget Details.
"We want to ensure that the public gets accurate information, not confused. Moreover, there is an impression that the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal program seems to come from a 'miracle' of efficiency without touching other important sector budgets," said Bonnie in a press conference at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 25.
Bonnie, who also serves as the Head of the PDIP History Agency, said the applicable rules clearly showed that the budget worth trillions of rupiah for MBG was part of the education budget allocation. There must be no attempt to mislead the public regarding the source of funding for President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program.
"PDI Perjuangan through us who are in charge of the DPR RI has a moral and constitutional responsibility to escort so that the function of this budget is really in accordance with its provisions, and honest in its delivery to the people," he said.
"Don't let there be a narrative that obscures the legal facts that have been set out in the state sheet," continued Bonnie.
Continuing Bonnie's statement, Member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives Denny Cagur understands the public spotlight regarding the use of education funds for MBG. Because, there are many things that should be prioritized from the state's money.
"We want teachers in Indonesia to be more prosperous and everything that is given for education really touches every sector that can make the world of education much better," he said.
This press conference was also attended by Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR MY Esti Wijayati and Deputy Secretary General of the DPP PDIP for Communications Adian Napitupulu.
