JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation has prepared 401 units of buses in the free homecoming road transportation program in the 2026 Lebaran Transportation.

Hundreds of buses were prepared to serve 15,834 passengers during the return and return flows.

Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan said that the registration of the free homecoming program was opened online starting March 1, 2026 through the official website of the Ministry of Transportation.

"Registration will open starting March 1, 2026 online through the nusantara.kemenhub.go.id page. Registration will be closed when all quotas have been met," Aan said in an official statement, Wednesday, February 25.

Aan said that this year's free homecoming road transport program serves 34 destination cities spread across 10 provinces, including Palembang, Lampung, Bengkulu, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Garut, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, Kuningan, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, to Tulungagung.

Meanwhile, the reverse flow service is departing from 12 cities in 8 provinces, including Kuningan, Madiun, Surabaya, Palembang, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.

In addition to passenger buses, the Ministry of Transportation has also prepared motorcycle transportation facilities for travelers who want to go home with two-wheeled vehicles. A total of 8 trucks are provided to transport 240 motorcycles.

"We also provide 8 units of motorcycle transport trucks for travelers who will go home by motorcycle," said Aan.

The transportation of motorcycles serves the cities of Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto, both on the return and return flows.

Aan said the departure schedule for the homecoming flow was divided into three days in five locations. Departures were carried out on March 16, 2026 from Pondok Cabe Terminal South Tangerang, March 17, 2026 from Jatijajar Depok Terminal and Pulogebang Jakarta Terminal, and March 18, 2026 from Kampung Rambutan Jakarta Terminal and Poris Plawad Tangerang Terminal.

For the return flow, departure is scheduled for March 25, 2026 from 12 terminals, including the Bulupitu Purwokerto Terminal, Mangkang Semarang Terminal, Giwangan Yogyakarta Terminal, Tirtonadi Solo Terminal, to the Batoh Aceh Terminal.

Aan added that the handover of motorbikes in the homecoming flow was carried out on March 16, 2026 at the Pondok Cabe Terminal, South Tangerang and departed at night from the same location.

"We also ensure that free homecoming buses that will be dispatched have carried out safety inspections or ramp checks. This is done to ensure that the condition of the bus and the driver is in good condition," he added.

According to Aan, this free homecoming program is a form of the government's presence to help the community, especially in supporting the tradition of homecoming and Eid greetings.

He also appreciated the ministries/institutions and private parties who also held similar programs.

"We appeal to the public to register for one of the free homecoming programs so that there is no duplication of registrants and the quota can be used by other travelers who really need it," he concluded.
