BNPB Records Flooding in Three Lombok Districts, One Citizen Dies and Thousands of KK Affected
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded a number of new disaster incidents that occurred in several regions of Indonesia in the period from February 24 at 07.00 WIB to February 25 at 07.00 WIB. The majority of the incidents are still dominated by flood disasters in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) region.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the report summarized by the BNPB Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) showed that flooding occurred in three districts on Lombok Island, namely East Lombok Regency, Central Lombok Regency, and West Lombok Regency.
"BNPB has recorded a number of new disaster incidents that have occurred in several regions of Indonesia, in the period from 24 February at 07.00 WIB to 25 February 2026, at 07.00 WIB," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Wednesday, February 25.
Flooding in East Lombok Regency was triggered by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds on Tuesday, February 24 afternoon. This event caused one resident to be swept away by the current.
The victim was found several hours later in a dead state. In addition to the victims, the flood affected 604 families (KK) or 2,848 people spread across 11 villages and one village.
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Lombok Regency together with the BPBD of NTB Province has carried out data collection, search and assistance for victims. The Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the NTB Provincial BPBD also set up an emergency tent in Pijot Village, Keruak District to handle affected residents. As of Tuesday evening, water was still flooding the area with varying heights.
In Central Lombok Regency, flooding affected 12 villages in three sub-districts, namely Pujut, Praya Timur and Praya Barat. It was recorded that 1,115 households were affected with different water levels at each location.
The NTB Provincial BPBD sent logistical assistance in the form of three tents, lights, boats, generators, sleeping mats and instant noodles. Officers are still monitoring and updating data because the flood has not completely receded.
Meanwhile, in West Lombok Regency, flooding occurred in Tempos Village, Gerung District. A total of 35 houses were reported to be affected.
In addition, one road access was disrupted due to being eroded by the flood flow until it took half of the road body. Officers installed safety lines and advised residents to be careful when crossing the path.
"Responding to various flood disaster incidents, BNPB appeals to the public and local governments to continue to increase their preparedness and vigilance. Preparedness is needed in the face of potential threats from wet hydrometeorological disasters," he said.
He also reminded that if there is heavy rain with a long duration, residents are advised to carry out self-evacuation if necessary, know the evacuation routes, and be aware of areas with strong currents such as water channels, manholes and sewers. The public is asked to update weather information through official sources to minimize risks.
