52 Houses in Menteng Renovated Through Gentengisasi, DKI Provincial Government Prepares Strengthening of MSMEs

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) supports the Gentengisasi program or a mutual aid movement to build and organize people's homes initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

This program was started in the Menteng Tenggulun area, Menteng District, Central Jakarta. In the initial phase, as many as 52 houses will be renovated by the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) RI to be habitable and healthy.

Of the total, 23 houses are residential and business locations for residents. Meanwhile, 10 other MSMEs will still receive training even though their houses have been assessed as suitable.

Head of the DKI Jakarta PPKUKM Office, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said that his party was not only focusing on the physical arrangement of the area, but also strengthening the economy of residents who have been dependent on income from home-based businesses.

"We see great potential in Menteng Tenggulun to be developed as a culinary tourism area based on community. The PPKUKM Office ensures that it will encourage and provide maximum assistance so that MSMEs here grow and rise in class," said Elisabeth in a statement, Wednesday, February 25.

According to him, support for this Gentengisasi program is also in line with the agenda of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who encourages the arrangement of community-based areas.

"Governor Pramono Anung has consistently emphasized that the arrangement of Jakarta must touch two things at once, namely improving the quality of the environment and improving the welfare of residents," said Elisabeth.

"Therefore, we ensure that Gentengisasi in Menteng Tenggulun is in line with his direction, namely to present an organized area while mobilizing the people's economy," he added.

The PPKUKM Office will conduct data collection and mapping of the business potential of residents to support the culinary tourism concept that is being prepared. Almost every corner of the Menteng Tenggulun area there are home-based food and beverage business actors who are considered potentially developed into a new economic attraction.

Elisabeth ensured that facilitation would be provided ranging from business legality, product quality improvement, packaging and branding, to marketing and financing access.

"We will facilitate business legality, product quality improvement, packaging and branding, marketing facilitation, to access financing. We have also partnered with banks and financing institutions so that MSMEs are not entangled in usurers, while improving their financial literacy," said Elisabeth.

He hopes that cross-sector collaboration can encourage Menteng Tenggulun to transform from a dense area into an organized and productive area, as well as be known as a culinary tourism destination based on mutual cooperation.

"This is not just about repairing the roof and walls of the house, but building hope and the future of the residents' economy. When the center and the region work together, the impact will be much stronger and directly touch the community," he concluded.
