3-Year-Old Baby Abused by Father-in-law in Sragen, KemenPPPA Hands Down

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) is monitoring the handling of a female toddler who was a victim of violence by her stepfather in Sragen, Central Java.

"The Sragen Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) has carried out follow-up coordination with the Sragen Police PPA Unit and provided assistance to the victim and the other three child victims," said Deputy Head of Child Protection at the Ministry of PPPA, Indra Gunawan, when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

So far, the PPA UPTD has also provided medical and visa assistance.

Indra Gunawan said that the suspected perpetrator had been secured by the Sragen Police investigators.

"Currently, the reported person, who is the victim's father, has been detained since February 21," he said.

Previously, a video recording circulated on social media (medsos) showing a little girl (3) allegedly abused by her stepfather.

The case occurred in Sragen, Central Java.

The alleged violence on February 19, 2026, has caused netizens to be angry.

The victim has been living with his grandmother and grandfather, because the victim's mother has been working in Taiwan for the past six months.

Then, the victim was forcibly picked up by her stepfather.

During his time with his stepfather, the victim was often the target of violence.

Violence on children by step-parents has also recently occurred in Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

A boy (12) died allegedly because he was abused by his stepmother in Sukabumi Regency.

The victim died with bruises and burns on his body.

The Sukabumi Police suspected that there was violence against the victim in the case and raised the status of the case to the investigation stage.

Currently, the police are still waiting for the results of the autopsy of the victim.
