Benjamin Sesko Happy to Get Pressure: Special Rights at Manchester United

Benjamin Sesko says he must accept the pressure that comes with playing for Manchester United if he is to succeed at Old Trafford.

Sesko has been in the spotlight since his £73 million move from RB Leipzig last summer. The 22-year-old received criticism after starting his career at Manchester United, with only two goals in his first five months at the club.

However, after scoring six goals in his last seven games - including the winning goal at Everton on Tuesday, February 24, 2025, early morning WIB - Sesko said he had to learn to live with the pressure.

"For me, the way I look at pressure is something that, if I want to be a good player, it's something I have to have."

"I consider it a privilege. It's something you have to have if you want to play at the highest level. It's about accepting it and not worrying too much about it," said the striker.

Manchester United's interim manager Michael Carrick has been urged to start Sesko against Everton after the Slovenia striker came off the bench to score the equaliser at West Ham.

Back on the bench at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, he was brought on early in the second half and scored 13 minutes later.

After scoring in two consecutive matches, Sesko has the opportunity to start for the first time under Carrick when Crystal Palace visit Old Trafford on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

However, he insists that he is not focused on how many minutes he will get, just how best to make the most of them.

"Of course we are talking about it, but (Carrick) believes in me. Everyone believes in me, they are preparing me to be a starter as soon as possible."

"It's more about me performing when needed, no matter how many minutes I get, I focus on giving my best and trying to help the team win."

"I don't even think about having to be a starter. If I get one more minute, five minutes, I'll make the most of it. For me, it's just about trying to enjoy and give my best for the team," Sesko said.

Sesko's form has been the key to the revival under Carrick. Five wins and a draw from his six games have lifted Manchester United into fourth place in the Premier League table, above Chelsea and Liverpool, in the race for a Champions League spot.

"Everyone works for each other. I have said many times that the coaching staff in general, not just Carrick, but also the other people beside him are amazing."

"They work on individuals and you can see it on the pitch. In the end, to win so many games and secure so many points. It's all made up of details and that's how we got all these points," said Sesko.
