Deputy Governor Says Planned Road Bike Routes In Sudirman-Thamrin Will Not Be Mixed With Motorized Vehicles

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the plan to provide road bike lanes on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin will not be mixed with other motorized vehicle drivers.

Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is preparing road bike lane facilities during weekdays, namely Monday to Friday at 05.00-06.30 WIB.

"It is regulated by being given a limit. There must be a limitation. It cannot immediately (road bike) dominate widely. Of course we have to respect other road users," said Riza at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 2.

Later, there will be a trial of a special road bike lane in Sudirman-Thamrin. However, Riza has not confirmed the implementation time. This is waiting for DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to issue a governor's decision.

"The determination of the road bike path will be regulated through the governor's decision. The draft is still being discussed in a marathon by stakeholders. This is just the result of the meeting between the Transportation Agency and the Regional Police. The provisional agreement will again be waiting for the arrangement through the governor's decision," said Riza

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is reviewing the results of the trial of a permanent road bike route on JLNT Kampung Melayu. This line is opened specifically on Saturdays and Sundays, starting from 05.00 WIB to 08.00 WIB. After that, road bike cyclists were prohibited from crossing the JLNT.

"So, in principle, the provincial government provides the widest opportunity for the community (road bikes) to carry out positive activities," he said.

However, Deputy Governor Riza asked all road users to respect the existence of other road users.

"Pedestrians, cyclists, road bikers, motorcycle users, cars, buses, trucks. Everyone must respect each other," he added.
