Padel Mushrooming, Mandek Permit: DKI Provincial Government Threatens to Stop Operating 185 Buildings that Have Not Gotten PBG
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has recorded that as many as 185 out of a total of 397 padel courts in the capital do not yet have a Building Permit (PBG).
Head of the DKI Jakarta Department of Construction, Spatial Planning and Land (Citata) Vera Revina Sari said that as of February 23, 2026, there were 185 padel court buildings that had not obtained PBG permits.
"Until February 23, 2026, there are 185 padel buildings that do not have a PBG permit," said Vera through an SMS, Antara, Wednesday, February 25.
He admitted that the growth of padel courts in Jakarta was very fast. Of the total 397 courts that were recorded, as many as 212 buildings have PBG.
Vera emphasized that the PBG is a mandatory document before the building is used legally. After getting the PBG, the new manager can apply for a Certificate of Legal Function (SLF) as proof that the building is safe and suitable for use.
"The mandatory document is the PBG. The next permit is the SLF. PBG alone does not have it, it is impossible to apply for SLF," he said.
Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo emphasized that padel fields that do not have PBG will be subject to strict sanctions in the form of suspension of activities, demolition, and revocation of business permits.
"Because we suspect that there are padel fields that do not have permits or do not have PBG," said Pramono.
He added that for the construction of a new padel court, the owner must obtain initial technical permit approval from the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Office. This policy is intended so that the construction of the padel court is not carried out arbitrarily without technical and spatial studies.
In addition, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government prohibits the construction of padel courts on state-owned assets or in the Green Open Space (RTH) area. Padel courts are also not allowed to be built in the middle of residential areas.
As for the padel field that has stood in residential areas and has a permit, the Provincial Government limits the maximum operating hours to 20.00 WIB in order to minimize the noise complained by residents.
