Student in Kelapa Gading Dies After Being Hit by a Palu by his Brother
JAKARTA - A student with the initials MAR (22) was found dead with injuries to the head after being hit with a hammer by his younger brother with the initials MAH (16) at his house on Jalan Puskesmas, East Kelapa Gading Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.
The head of the RT of Kelapa Gading Timur Village, Agus, said the incident occurred on Tuesday night, February 24, 2026. The victim and the perpetrator are siblings.
Inside the house, the victim and the perpetrator lived with his mother. Meanwhile, his father had separated from his mother.
"They live in three. His mother, his brother and his sister. The victim (died) his brother, the perpetrator is his younger brother who is still under age," he said.
After the incident, members of the PPA Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police immediately arrested the perpetrator MAH. For further processing, the perpetrator was taken to the North Jakarta Police Chief.
Head of the North Jakarta Police's Public Relations Unit, Kompol Ni Luh Sri Arsini, said that his party was still investigating the motive for the persecution.
"The initial suspicion of the motive is related to family problems. The perpetrator has a sense of envy towards the victim because he often gets attention from his parents," said Kompol Ni Luh Sri when confirmed, Wednesday, February 26, 2026.
The Head of the PPA said that the perpetrator was still in school. In his daily life, the perpetrator is a good student.
"The child is actually good. The one who lives in the house is only the perpetrator, the victim, and his mother. If his father has separated," he said.
The victim's mother has a private business. Meanwhile, the perpetrator is still in school, while the victim is in college.
"So maybe before there was a sense of resentment that the perpetrator had stored, until finally the heinous act on Tuesday occurred," he explained.
The victim's body is still undergoing an autopsy at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, to find out the exact cause of his death.
"The victim is still undergoing an autopsy, the results have not come out yet," he said.
Meanwhile, in the living room and the victim's house yard, there was still blood stains that dried after the murder. The case was handled by the North Jakarta Metro Police and the Kelapa Gading Police.
