Pangandaran Waves Hit The Overturned Ship, 3 Fishermen Are Missing

PANGANDARAN - Joint officers are searching for three fishermen who were reported missing when their boat capsized while at sea in the waters of Pangandaran Regency, West Java.

"Three fishermen are still being searched for by the joint SAR team," said Head of the Bandung Search and Rescue Office, Deden Ridwansah, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 2.

He said that the fishing boat was reported to have capsized while at sea in the waters of Batu Bodas, Pangandaran Regency, Tuesday, June 1 evening. So far, his whereabouts are unknown.

A joint team from the Water Police, TNI, SAR Team, and volunteers, he said, had searched for three fishermen by walking along the coast and using boats to search the middle of the ocean.

"A rescue team from the Pangandaran SAR Alert Unit went to the scene at 06.20 WIB to conduct a search with other elements," said Deden.

He submitted a report that was collected in the field, the fishing boat contained five crew members from the Pangandaran Fish Market who were taking kite fish in the Batu Bodas waters on the edge of the Pangandaran Nature Reserve.

However, suddenly a wave hit the ship and it overturned and hit a rock, then the ship sank, luckily two people survived, while the other three people were still being searched.

"There are survivors named Iwan and Ee, while the three victims in the search are Ade Rapi, Asep, and Agun," continued Deden.

Joint officers dispatched to Pangandaran will continue the search on Thursday, June 3 morning by walking along the coast and into the middle of the ocean.
