Foreign Minister Araghchi Says Deal with US Can Be Achieved if Diplomacy is a Priority
JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that Tehran would resume talks with the United States in Geneva, Switzerland "with determination to reach a fair and equitable agreement in the shortest possible time."
In a post on social media, X Foreign Minister Araghchi said the new round of talks would "be based on the understanding reached in the previous two rounds" in Muscat and Geneva.
It is known that Tehran and Washington are scheduled to hold a third round of indirect nuclear negotiations under Omani mediation in the Swiss capital on Thursday.
After the latest round of talks, both sides issued positive assessments, saying they had agreed on "guideline principles" that Iran hoped would pave the way to a potential deal.
Foreign Minister Araghchi said Iran's "fundamental belief" was clear, noting that the country "under no circumstances will ever" develop nuclear weapons, and the Iranian people would never give up their right to "utilize the benefits of peaceful nuclear technology for our people."
"We have a historic opportunity to reach an unprecedented agreement that addresses common concerns and achieves common interests," he said, launching Anadolu (25/2).
"Agreements can be reached, but only if diplomacy is prioritized," said Foreign Minister Araghchi.
The senior diplomat added that Tehran had proved it would "do anything" to protect its sovereignty amid fears of a possible US attack on Iran.
"We bring the same courage to the negotiating table, where we will pursue a peaceful resolution to every difference," he said.
It is known that the continuation of indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington took place amid a massive increase in US military forces in the Persian Gulf region, as well as extensive exercises by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in recent days.
