Lebaran Trend 2026: Abaya Touch and "Earth Tone" Color Palette
JAKARTA - Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026, the direction of Muslim fashion styles in Indonesia has begun to shift. If in previous years it was dominated by gamis with a crowded floral motif, this year fashion practitioners predict a more minimalist look but still has character.
The Charm of Modern Abaya
Abaya, a loose long robe typical of the Middle East, is predicted to be the primadona. Interestingly, this year's abaya comes with various modifications:
Texture Variations: From the simple and minimalist, to the graphic print, to the luxurious lace accents.
Function As Outer: Abaya is no longer just worn as a single dress. People are starting to combine it as an outer for palazzo pants or pleated skirts, giving a contemporary and fashionable impression.
"Abaya is also modified a lot, some are plain, printed to those with lace. This is one of the interesting trends to watch because there is a cultural touch," said Scarf Media CEO and designer Temi Sumalin at a press conference in Jakarta.
Color Palette: Back to Basic
Basic and earthy colors (earth tones) will dominate the Lebaran fashion stage this time. Colors such as khaki, cream, gray, and black are said to be the most sought after because they give an elegant and timeless impression.
So as not to look boring, Elsa Dewi from the Sarinah Group suggests several matching techniques:
Modern combination: Mixing earthy colors with a touch of bright colors, such as a combination of brown and pink for a fresh yet neat impression.
Cultural Accent: Adding traditional elements to a modern look to create a more personal style.
Accessories: Pashmina Abstract Motif
To complement the appearance, the trend of pashmina scarves has also changed. This year, abstract motifs are predicted to shift the dominance of floral motifs. Abstract motifs are considered more flexible and give a more mature and artistic impression when combined with plain abayas.
