Police are looking for a debt collector who stabbed a customer in South Tangerang
JAKARTA - Police have confirmed that they will hunt down the perpetrators of the stabbing incident in the South Tangerang (Tangerang) area. The incident went viral on social media after a video uploaded on Instagram showed a commotion allegedly related to the withdrawal of a vehicle by a debt collector (DC).
South Tangerang Police Chief AKBP Boy Jumalolo said his party was currently conducting a pursuit of the perpetrators involved in the incident.
"While we are looking for the perpetrator, it must be dealt with firmly," he said in a statement, Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
He explained that the incident occurred at the gate of the Livera Cluster housing, Bencongan Village, Kelapa Dua District, Tangerang.
"The crime scene is related to the alleged stabbing of the victim by the debt collector. The stabbing occurred at the gate of the Cluster Livera housing, Bencongan Village, Kelapa Dua District," he said.
Currently, the police are still investigating the chronology of the incident and collecting information from a number of witnesses. The police also ensure that they will take firm action against the perpetrators if they are proven to have committed acts of violence.
"It is still being investigated by investigators. There is no room for violent acts that threaten the safety of the community, especially those that endanger lives. The perpetrators must be dealt with firmly," he said.
In a video circulating on the Instagram social media, a woman can be heard screaming for help because her white car was about to be taken by a number of men suspected of being debt collectors.
"Please, please, this is a debt collector," the woman screams in the video footage.
In the video, several men can be seen trying to enter and take the car. The situation then became more tense when the woman said her husband had been stabbed.
"My husband was stabbed, the police are looking for him," he said.
