KPK Employees Become ASN, Observers: Neutral And Free From Interests

JAKARTA - LIPI political observer Wasisto Raharjo Jati believes that the position of a KPK employee as a state civil servant will make the anti-corruption officer neutral and free of interests.

"Because the position of the ASN must be neutral and not take sides with the problem," said Wasisto Raharjo Jati in a release received in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 2.

Wasisto Raharjo Jati said that the appointment of KPK employees to become ASN would make the anti-corruption agency not have a particular interest in eradicating corruption. According to him, KPK employees will obey the ASN rules so that they are neutral in dealing with a case.

"Actually, the ASN's position in this case is neutral, neutral and free of interests. So the advantage is that if he is part of the corruption eradication team, then his free position is there. So he is not tied to any particular interest," said Wasisto.

Wasisto also responded to the statement by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri who said that the spirit of the KPK in eradicating corruption remained the same even though its employees had become ASN. Wasisto said that KPK employees must be given the authority so that they are not vulnerable to intervention by their superiors.

"The position of the ASN in taking action on the case is also vulnerable to intervention by their superiors," he said.

According to him, this is because it could be justified, for example, such as not being within the authority of the ASN or perhaps outside its main function in taking action on cases.

"Well, ASN is actually here, he can be strong as long as he is given the authority," said Wasisto.

Furthermore, Wasisto also assessed that the National Insight Test (TWK) which is one of the factors in the passage of KPK employees to become ASN still has a connection with eradicating corruption.

"In relation to eradicating corruption, this is a matter of how they have a kind of paradigm. Which ones are for the benefit of the nation and state, which ones are personal. The essence is there," he said.

It is known that the KPK officially inaugurated 1,271 employees who passed the TWK to become ASN on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. KPK chairman Firli Bahuri called for all Indonesians to carry out the 'Badar war' against corruption.

"By being a just and civilized human being, God willing, the third principle of Indonesian Unity will become the strength of the entire Indonesian nation in the 'war of Badr' against corruption," said Firli.

According to Firli, the crime of corruption will have an impact on the goals of the state. With that, Firli said eradicating corruption is the spirit of the KPK.

"Crimes against humanity whose destructive impact is not only detrimental to the state's finances, but more than that, destroying and thwarting the realization of the country's goals and the nation's future," he said.

According to Firli, this is the spirit of the KPK in eradicating corruption in realizing the country's goals.

"To be effective and measurable, fast and efficient, the fight against corruption should be done with full wisdom and wisdom as the essence of the fourth principle of Pancasila," he said.
