The Ministry of MSME Holds a Mass KUR Akad for North Sumatra Disaster Victims
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) has strengthened access to financing for North Sumatra (Sumut) UMKM entrepreneurs through the implementation of the socialization and mass loan agreement for People's Business Loans (KUR) in Pematang Siantar and Simalungun Regency.
Deputy for Micro Business of the Ministry of MSME, Riza Damanik, emphasized that this activity is an important momentum in accelerating the distribution of KUR as well as improving the quality of access to financing for MSME entrepreneurs.
This activity is also a concrete step by the government in ensuring that access to financing is faster, more inclusive, and more targeted.
"This activity is an important momentum in efforts to accelerate the distribution of KUR as well as improving the quality of access to financing for MSMEs," said Riza Damanik in a statement to the media, Tuesday, February 24.
The socialization and mass KUR activity was attended by more than 450 UMKM entrepreneurs from Pematang Siantar City and Simalungun Regency.
In this activity, as many as 250 UMKM entrepreneurs signed the KUR contract directly.
Meanwhile, 200 other MSMEs entrepreneurs participated in socialization and mentoring through coaching clinics to overcome various obstacles to access financing, both in terms of administration and business readiness.
Riza said this assistance was an important part of ensuring that MSMEs entrepreneurs not only get access to financing, but also a comprehensive understanding of better business governance.
This activity also involves financing assistance services from a number of KUR distribution banks, namely BRI, BNI, BTN, Bank Mandiri, and BPD North Sumatra.
The collaboration between the government and the banking sector is expected to be able to accelerate the disbursement process as well as increase financing literacy among MSME entrepreneurs.
Riza added that access to financing is one of the keys to transforming MSMEs so that they can enter into a more integrated empowerment ecosystem.
The transformation is not only oriented towards increasing sales, but also on strengthening business structures, expanding markets, and increasing the competitiveness of domestic products.
"Through the socialization and mass KUR in Pematang Siantar and Simalungun, we want to open bottlenecks and increase KUR exposure so that people get complete and complete information regarding the requirements and procedures for accessing this government program," he said.
Nationally, the distribution of KUR throughout 2025 has reached Rp. 270 trillion or around 94 percent of the target set.
The number of debtors who are beneficiaries reaches 4.5 million UMKM entrepreneurs.
In terms of quality, the distribution of KUR shows significant improvement by reaching 2.7 million new debtors and encouraging 1.5 million graduation debtors.
For the first time, the portion of KUR distribution to the production sector exceeded the target, reaching 60.7 percent.
This achievement shows the government's commitment in directing financing to productive sectors that provide greater added value for the economy.
At the regional level, the performance of KUR distribution in North Sumatra throughout 2025 also shows strong potential.
A total of 248,000 MSMEs entrepreneurs in this province received KUR distribution with a total value of Rp. 14.7 trillion.
Simalungun Regency is one of the areas with the largest realization of distribution, namely Rp. 1.18 trillion to more than 21,000 MSME entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Pematang Siantar City recorded a distribution of Rp. 234 billion to around 3,000 MSME entrepreneurs.
"The achievement of this KUR distribution is expected to increase the added value of the regional economy," said Riza.
Entering 2026, this positive trend continues. As of February 22, 2026, the distribution of KUR in North Sumatra has reached IDR 1.86 trillion to more than 32,000 MSME entrepreneurs.
This figure shows that the acceleration space for the realization of KUR distribution is still very open through the strengthening of synergies between the central government, local governments, banks, and UMKM entrepreneurs.
