Apply for a preliminary trial, Lawyer: KPK Salahi Procedure for Determining the Status of Suspect Yaqut
JAKARTA - The lawyer for former Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Mellisa Anggraini, said that there were many procedural errors made by the KPK in the investigation of the alleged corruption case regarding additional Hajj quotas. Yaqut also filed a pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court.
"We have more than three points, among which they use Article 2 and Article 3 of the Corruption Criminal Law (UU Tipikor), which have been revoked and no longer apply, and have been replaced by Articles in the new Criminal Code," said Mellisa, Tuesday, February 24.
But according to him, the KPK did not make this a reference. Regarding the details of the lawsuit related to the KPK's sprindik formil record regarding the determination of suspects, Melisa said it would be revealed in the trial process.
"There are so many defects and we feel we have the right to test it in this trial," he continued.
Mellisa has not explained the details of the formal defects of the three Investigation Orders (Sprindik) issued by the KPK and which became the basis for the determination of the suspects of his client.
"Yes, maybe later more details in the trial, yes, the point is we know the three Sprindik from the notification letter. We have never received a letter of determination of suspects containing rights from our clients, which contains a description of the case, which contains anything that relates to his actions so that he is designated as a suspect, we have never received it," he continued.
