Bripda MS Member of Brimob who beat Students to Death Apologizes

JAKARTA - Brimob member BripdaMS, a suspect in the alleged persecution of students at the Tsanawiyah Madrasah in Tual City, apologized to the victim's family and the community after undergoing a trial at the Maluku Regional Police's Police Code of Ethics Commission.

"I apologize to the parents and families of the victims. I was negligent, I didn't think long about the impact that would occur as a result of my negligence. I don't have the slightest intention to persecute, let alone take the victim's life," said Bripda MS as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 24.

The apology was delivered directly in front of the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) Assembly, which was led by the Head of the Maluku Regional Police's Propam Division, Kombes Indera Gunawan.

With a trembling voice, Bripda MS admitted his negligence and expressed deep regret for his actions which resulted in the victim's death.

He also apologized to the National Police and the Brimob Corps institutions who were affected by his actions.

"I also apologize to the National Police and the Brimob Corps, which I am proud of. Because of my actions, the good name of the institution is ugly in the eyes of the public," he said.

Not only to the victim's family and institutions, Bripda MS also apologized to the people of Tual City, especially the Kei community.

He stated that he was ready to accept all legal and ethical consequences for his actions.

"I apologize to the people of Tual, especially the Kei people, because my actions have hurt the people. I am ready to accept any consequences for my negligence while carrying out my duties and responsibilities. Please vent all your anger on me, not on this institution. This is my deed," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Police Commissioner General Rositah Umasugi, emphasized that the ethics trial is an internal mechanism to assess disciplinary violations and professional ethics codes.

The criminal process against Bripda MS continues separately and independently in accordance with applicable laws.

The clarification was made to answer public scrutiny which demanded transparency in handling the case and ensuring that there was no special treatment for law enforcement officers involved in criminal acts.

The Maluku Police ensured that all stages of handling the case, both ethical and criminal, were carried out professionally and openly.

"There is no room for impunity. Police officers who violate the law will be processed according to the rules without exception," he said.
