JAKARTA - The Anti-terror Special Detachment (Densus) 88 operation against the disclosure and arrest of a number of suspected terrorist network cells in Merauke, Papua, continues to increase to 13 people
The Merauke Police Chief, AKBP Untung Sangaji, admitted that the number of terrorists arrested at this time was 13, and the number may still increase.
In addition to arresting 13 terrorists, Densus 88 also secured various evidences.
"For the time being, that's all I can say because the investigation is still ongoing," said Untung, who was contacted from Jayapura, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 2.
Of the 13 terrorists who were arrested, only 11 people whose identities were revealed, namely AK, SB, ZR, UAT, DS, SD, SR, YK and SW as well as husband and wife AP and IK.
The arrests of terrorists began with the arrest of 10 people after previously being indicated for bombing in Merauke, but failed.
The Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri stated that they were a network of the Ansharut Daulah Group linked to the bombing of the Cathedral Church, Makassar, on March 28, 2021.
