US War Minister Emphasizes Plan to Place Weapons in Space

JAKARTA - US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth reiterated the US plan to place weapons in outer space through the Golden Dome missile project.

"Golden Dome for America, a revolutionary initiative in the form of space-based weapons and sensors, a focused constellation of next-generation sensors and satellites that will see every threat from every corner of the world," Hegseth said in his speech in Colorado, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Monday, February 24.

In May, US President Donald Trump launched the Golden Dome project, which is estimated to cost nearly 175 billion US dollars (around Rp2.94 trillion).

The layered defense initiative will integrate ground, sea, and space systems to protect the US from missile threats. The first major test is reportedly scheduled for late 2028.

However, the Bloomberg news agency reported that according to expert estimates, the Golden Dome would cost 1.1 trillion US dollars (about Rp18.5 trillion).
