Criticism Of Discourse On Road Bikes Allowing Motorized Vehicles To Pass, PDIP: Unmeasured Policy

JAKARTA - DKI DPRD member from the PDIP faction, Gilbert Simanjuntak, criticized DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan's plan to allow road bike cyclists on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman to MH Thamrin in shifts.

The special road bike lane will be opened on weekdays, namely Monday-Friday at 05.00-06.30 WIB. According to Gilbert, this plan is an immeasurable policy.

"This is an immeasurable policy issue by the Governor. All are victims and have no impact on the wider community during this pandemic," Gilbert said when contacted, Wednesday, June 2.

According to Gilbert, Anies has spent too much money to facilitate cyclists on the highway, such as creating permanent bicycle lanes.

"We estimate that there are less than 0.1 percent of bicycle users compared to other transportation users, but bicycles must use 10 percent of the road," he said.

Gilbert said that repairing the illegal transportation system should be a priority. He regretted that the Jaklingko program did not develop.

"Anies promised Jaklingko, but there are very few that work. Jaklingko is a good concept, but as we can see, everything stops at grammar and lacks action," he said.

He suggested that in the one year remaining term of office, Anies should focus on finalizing the work program that has been contained in the regional medium-term program plan (RPJMD) and has not been completed.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was drafting a governor's decision to regulate the facilities for road bike users on the Nontol Flyover (JLNT) Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang and Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.

This was stated by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria. However, the regulation is still being discussed with the Polda Metro Jaya.

"The determination of the road bike path will be regulated through a governor's decision. The draft is still being discussed in a marathon by stakeholders. This is just the result of the meeting between the Transportation Agency and the Regional Police. The provisional agreement will again be waiting for the arrangement through the governor's decision," said Riza.

However, said Riza, it does not mean that the special bike race lane will be made permanent throughout the day. Riza leaked the plan to determine the schedule for the route.

The permanent road bike lane on JLNT Kampung Melayu will be opened specifically on Saturdays and Sundays, starting from 05.00 WIB to 08.00 WIB. After that, road bike cyclists were prohibited from crossing the JLNT.

Then the permanent road bike lane on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin is opened Monday-Friday from 05.00 WIB to 06.30 WIB. Meanwhile, bicycles other than road bikes are still required to pass on permanent bicycle lanes.
