BI and OJK Launch PIDI to Boost the Growth of the Indonesian Digital Economy
JAKARTA - Indonesia has great potential from young talents who play an important role in driving national digital economic growth.
To strengthen this capacity, Bank Indonesia (BI) together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) launched the Indonesian Digital Innovation Center (PIDI) at the Bank Indonesia Office, Jakarta, on Monday, February 23, 2026.
The program is carried out through collaboration with ASPI, AFTECH, APUVINDO, and LPPI.
The launch was marked by the holding of the Digital Talenta Berdaya dan Berkarya (Digdaya) x Hackathon 2026 which carries the theme "Innovating for the Future, Empowering Digital Talent" which will take place during the period from February 23 to March 27, 2026.
PIDI is designed as a container for accelerating digital solutions that are ready to be implemented in the industry and this program aims to expand financial inclusion and provide a real impact on the national economy.
The presence of PIDI is a strategic step in accelerating the transformation of Digital Economy and Finance (EKD), in line with the Asta Cita and the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 through the strengthening of adaptive, innovative, and competitive digital talent at the global level.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo emphasized that digital transformation is not only about technological progress, but also the readiness of human resources in translating ideas into concrete solutions.
"Through PIDI, Bank Indonesia is building an ecosystem so that the innovation of young talent is able to meet the increasingly complex needs of the digital industry, strengthen the stability of the financial system, and encourage inclusive economic growth," he said in a statement, quoted Tuesday, February 24.
He hopes that this program will be a space for the younger generation to contribute directly to the development of the national digital economy.
In addition, synergy between regulators, industry players, and young talents is considered important to build a solid, safe, and globally competitive digital economy foundation.
Meanwhile, the Acting Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi emphasized the importance of collaboration between regulators in producing the next generation who are able to become the engine of digital innovation.
"We are synergizing to build a young generation who can be the successors for those who later have digital innovations," he said.
He said that participants from various regions in Indonesia will undergo coaching, training, and kaderization processes to produce technology solutions that are applicable and have an impact on the financial services sector.
According to Friderica, digitization has contributed greatly to business innovation and increased financial inclusion. However, strengthening governance, risk management, and consumer protection remain a top priority.
"This financial sector is very dependent on digitization. Whether it's for business innovation, then financial inclusion. But of course there must also be a consumer protection aspect," he said.
He also emphasized the importance of risk mitigation in the midst of accelerating digitization, including through strengthening policies and infrastructure for protecting the public such as the Indonesia Anti-Scam Center.
"Especially how to anticipate various risks that arise from digitalization. That is the digital policy that we now have, the Indonesia Anti-Scam Center. It also started from a dream, also has a vision," he said.
For information, the PIDI Program focuses on solutions to three problem statements, namely Strengthening Financial Resilience and Innovation; Increasing Productivity, Food Security, and Job Creation; Accelerating Public Services, Creative Economy, and Digital Services Exports.
