BGN prohibits MBG food monopoly, at least 15 suppliers must be involved

JAKARTA - Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, emphasized that food raw materials for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchen or Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) should not be dominated by one supplier.

According to Nanik, SPPG should empower farmers, livestock farmers, fishermen, cooperatives, and MSMEs around the kitchen as suppliers of raw materials. That way, the menu served is more diverse and also stimulates the local economy.

"SPPG food raw materials must not come only from one, two, or three suppliers. Moreover, the supplier is only an extension of SPPG partners," said Nanik in an official statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, February 24.

The statement was made during a coordination meeting with the heads of SPPG, financial supervisors, and nutrition supervisors throughout the cities of Surabaya and Sidoarjo, East Java.

During the forum, Nanik explained Presidential Regulation Number 115 of 2025 concerning the Management of the MBG Program, which requires priority for the use of domestic products.

"The implementation of MBG prioritizes the use of domestic products and the involvement of micro-enterprises, small businesses, individual companies, cooperatives, Red and White Village/Subdistrict cooperatives, and BUMDes," he said.

Based on these provisions, SPPG is required to involve UMKM products as well as raw materials from farmers, livestock farmers, small fishermen, cooperatives, and residents around the MBG kitchen. Nanik emphasized, the more suppliers are involved, the greater the economic impact felt by the local community.

"SPPG must use a minimum of 15 suppliers of food raw materials to meet the needs of each," he said.

After receiving reports regarding the number of suppliers and the alleged dominance of partners in the arrangement of food supply, Nanik ordered the Surabaya and Sidoarjo regional coordinators to conduct direct checks on all SPPG.

"Check directly to SPPG-SPPG, how many suppliers are used to supply raw materials. There should be no monopoly by partners or foundations," he said.

He also asked for a report on the number of suppliers to be submitted within a week. Furthermore, the BGN Monitoring and Supervision Department will be tasked with taking action against SPPG partners who have proven to dominate the supply of food.

"If someone still dominates and only has one to three partners, I will suspend it," said Nanik.
