Bekasi Regency Prioritizes Road Improvement to Ensure Comfort for Travelers

BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, prioritizes the improvement of road infrastructure, especially on the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 Masehi homecoming route, in order to ensure the safety, smoothness and comfort of travelers during the homecoming period until the return.

Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja emphasized that road repairs were the main priority at the beginning of this year through the budget shift scheme and the acceleration of the schedule of physical development project activities from the original second semester to the first semester.

"We have shifted the project schedule so that it can be completed in the near future. God willing, before Lebaran we will make sure that the roads in Bekasi Regency have been repaired," he said, Monday, February 23.

He stated that road improvements were also sought through a budget assistance scheme from the West Java Provincial Government, especially on provincial road status sections such as Jalan KH Raden Ma'mun Nawawi.

"I have coordinated with the West Java Provincial Government to repair the provincial road sections that have been damaged in the Bekasi Regency area. We communicate with Bappeda (Regional Development Planning Agency) West Java Province," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Traffic Police at the Bekasi Metro Police, Commissioner Sugihartono, assessed that the road conditions in the Bekasi Regency area are still far from ideal. Large holes and broken concrete are often found even on the commuter lanes and the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

"Ideally it should get better, because every time we have activities we evaluate what the conditions of the road are. In fact, yes, we are also a little concerned," he said.

He admitted that he had asked the relevant authorities to immediately repair the road so that it could be completed when the homecoming season began or coincided with the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026.

"We have already socialized in this meeting the authority of responsibility for the organizer, they must be responsible. Later, during the operation, there will be no more problems," he said.

The results of field monitoring, damage occurred on almost all major return routes ranging from Pantura Road along South Tambun to Kedungwaringin which is the authority of the Ministry of Public Works to Kalimalang Inspection Road which is the authority of the Bekasi Regency Government.

"What is clear is that every hole, diameter 30 centimeters, there are 20 centimeters. Including the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road managed by Jasa Marga," he said.

Sugihartono said that the damage was quite severe on Jalan KH. Raden Ma'mun Nawawi, which was the responsibility of the West Java Provincial Government. The provincial road even became a vulnerable point because traffic accidents often occurred.

"We have coordinated everything, so that later during the Ketupat Operation, there will be no problems in the provincial line," he said.
