Dasco: DPR has started to arrange the draft law on asset confiscation
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that Commission III of the House of Representatives has begun to draft the academic draft of the Law on Asset Confiscation.
"Commission III of the DPR RI is currently and has been shopping for problems and is in the process of drafting academic manuscripts and bills," said Dasco Monday, February 23.
According to him, this is in accordance with the DPR's previous commitment, namely the Asset Confiscation Bill will begin to be processed after the DPR completes the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Code of Criminal Procedure (KUHAP).
"Then it is also compiled with the Tipikor Law," said the head of the DPR, who deals with political, legal, and security affairs.
Therefore, Dasco said the DPR would immediately hold public participation for the preparation of the Asset Confiscation Bill, until it entered the discussion stage.
"When it is completed, we will also immediately follow up (the Asset Confiscation Bill) with the PPRT Law (Protection of Domestic Workers) and the Employment Bill," he said.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that it supported the discussion of the Draft Law on Asset Confiscation by the government and the DPR.
"The presence of this regulation will be a strategic step forward in strengthening the legal framework for eradicating corruption, especially to ensure the optimization of the recovery of state financial losses," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, Sunday (22/2).
He explained that the KPK supports the Asset Confiscation Bill because in the practice of anti-corruption law enforcement so far it is not only oriented towards imposing criminal penalties on the perpetrators of corruption, but also on the recovery of state financial losses as an integral part of the criminal justice system.
