Support the Acceleration of Post-disaster Recovery, SIG Sends 36,000 Precision Interlock Bricks for Permanent Housing Development in Talang Village, Padang, West Sumatra
JAKARTA - One of the focuses of accelerating post-flood recovery in Sumatra is the construction of housing that requires speed, durability, and efficiency. Gradually, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has sent 36,000 precision interlock bricks to support the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for the community in Talang Village, Pauh District, Padang City, West Sumatra which was affected by the hydrometeorological disaster in November 2025.
SIG Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni said, in the post-disaster situation, the community needs safe and decent housing in a short time. Precision interlock bricks are a construction solution that is precise, strong, and speeds up the process of building a huntap.
"This is a tangible form of the role of SIG in supporting the social and economic recovery of affected communities," said Vita Mahreyni, in a statement, Monday, February 23.
The first shipment was released by the President Director of SIG, Indrieffouny Indra, together with the President Commissioner of SIG, Sigit Widyawan, along with the Board of Commissioners and Directors of SIG, as well as the management of PT Semen Padang in the Indarung Plant area of PT Semen Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday, February 12.
Precision interlock bricks are derivative products developed by SIG in line with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita, especially in accelerating and equalizing the development of housing infrastructure and strengthening sustainable and environmentally friendly residential areas.
"SIG is committed to supporting the development of affordable, quality, and sustainable housing. Innovations such as precision interlock bricks are an important part of creating a national housing ecosystem that is more resilient to disasters," said Vita Mahreyni.
The construction of the huntap using precision interlock bricks has begun through collaboration between the West Sumatra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Indonesian Kadin in Talang Village, Kapalo Koto Village, Pauh District, Padang City, as the initial location for the implementation of this technology for disaster victims.
SIG ensures that the supply of precision interlock bricks produced through PT Semen Padang is at an adequate level to support the huntap development program. For the 36 house type, the supply capacity is able to support the construction of up to 120 huntap units per month, with potential distribution not only in West Sumatra, but also to North Sumatra and Aceh regions.
Previously, precision interlock bricks have also been applied to a number of pilot projects, including the construction of a type 36 model house in strategic national areas such as the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), as well as type 36 and type 57 model houses in Bamboo Apus, East Jakarta, with results showing construction time efficiency and optimal building quality.
Vita Mahreyni emphasized that the social and environmental aspects were also not overlooked by SIG in carrying out the Company's operations as a form of commitment to realizing sustainable development in Indonesia.
"The innovation of SIG green cement has a lower carbon emission of up to 38% compared to conventional cement, and has a high level of domestic content (TKDN), more than 90%. So by using SIG green cement, it means participating in efforts to reduce emissions to maintain environmental sustainability and on the other hand support the progress of the domestic industry," said Vita Mahreyni.
