Marc Marquez Crashes Three Times in Thailand Preseason Test
JAKARTA - Seven-time MotoGP world champion and defending champion Marc Marquez has crashed three times during the pre-season test at the Chang International Circuit, Thailand - where the first race of the season will take place.
The Spanish racer fell for the third time while doing a race simulation on Sunday, February 22, 2026. The rider nicknamed Baby Alien fell at Turn 3 so he had to end the day early.
Marquez said that lack of concentration was the cause of his fall after he wrestled with stomach pain throughout the weekend. He admitted that he was not in the best condition so that the accident could happen.
"The plan was to do a long run and finish it, but I had an accident so I had to finish it early," the 33-year-old rider said, as reported by Crash.
After the accident, Marquez was immediately taken to the media center. However, shortly after he immediately left the place without an injury diagnosis.
Davide Tardozzi as the boss of the Ducati team said that the three accidents experienced by his riders would not affect his performance ahead of the opening race.
"I think the accident didn't really affect Marc Marquez. The problem will not affect his performance at all. We know that Marc will be one of the championship candidates from the first race," he said.
Marquez was in third place overall at the end of the Buriram test. Meanwhile, his teammate Francesco Bagnaia looked more confident in fourth place.
Neither Marc Marquez, Bagnaia, nor Alex Marquez completed the full race simulation on the last day of testing. The Marquez brothers both fell during their performances, while Bagnaia had to stop his performance due to a technical problem.
Marquez last season dominated to win his seventh MotoGP world title. He locked in the title early in the Japanese MotoGP and missed the last four races, but still managed to sit comfortably at the top of the final standings.
